So I've been troubleshooting this problem off and on for awhile now, to no real avail. Essentially, I'm fine running games at almost the highest settings. The fps might be a bit lower than what I've come to expect, but no lower than 40. But every few minutes, everything will freeze up for a few seconds. I did some stress tests, and thought that maybe there were some bottlenecking issues between my CPU and GPU. Or perhaps my CPU was just starting to die.
Anyway, CPU passed the stress test using Intel's tuning software. But afterwards, I noticed that it was idling at about 80% utilization. Strangely enough though, when I open task manager, it will briefly show 80% utilization, and then immediately go down to about 5%. This shows on Intel's tuning app as well. Could this be a virus? I've done scans via AVG recently, so that didn't pick it up if it is. Anyway, any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
Update: Just ran Far Cry 5 for about 10 minutes with task manager open, and had zero instances of stuttering. So I'm convinced it's something that AVG didn't pick up, but..at least I can put a bandage on this situation for now.
