The two magazines are covering national and international news separately, but Lawrence combines them into news reports of U.S. in World and 1948 [1] and Later sold the magazine to its employees. Historically, this magazine tends to be a bit more conservative than the two main competitors, Time and Newsweek, and focus more on the story of economic, health, and education. Occasionally, Avast pops up various annoyance ads to shill their paid software. This is expected but I generally just click it off. I know it makes outrageous claims about there being '500 errors' on my computer when it's just something like shortcuts pointing nowhere.

However, this time it spooked me. I was chatting on Discord with a friend, who mentioned the word 'ransomware' at some point. No more than a minute or two later, Avast pops up a toaster popup in the corner saying:

"Ransomeware is on the rise

Activate our new, advanced randomware protection now."

Now, I know it could be a coincidence, but given as sketchy as it's been so far in it's advertisements, it's not too far a leap to make. I've put up with it til now but this is too spooky for me. I'm not sure if this was the right place to put this, but I just wanted to get the word out.

What would you recommend to replace this program that actually works and won't spy on my conversations?
