I have a Brother MFC-465CN with a port for Ethernet cable, it’s possible to connect it to router to make it a network printer. But I can’t hardwire it by Ethernet cable because it’s too far away from router.
Is there some affordable WiFi dongle that plugs into the Ethernet port that makes the printer think it’s on a wired connection to the router? I could only find one model, an iogear one for $50.
Alternatively is there some dongle that can go into the USB port and another end into computer USB to make a “wireless” USB connection?
Last idea, is there a way to repurpose an old spare router for this? Like the router connected to printer by Ethernet cable, then the router somehow communicates with main router to make it a network printer?
I’m not super tech savvy but I can install dd-wrt for example to give you an idea of what I can do.
Or is it just a much better idea to get a new printer? For the $50 the dongle costs I’d rather do that
