I have a second-hand hard drive that I'm trying to use for my hack lab and virtual machines. Problem is, it's so slow that it can barely run anything. Only about 110gb of the total 465 are in use, chkdsk shows no problems, and CrystalDiskMark rates it's read/write speeds between 70-80mb/s. I've tried defragging, it made no difference.
Are there any other options to try and salvage / speed up this hard drive? Or is it probably just old and I need another one?
