Hey guys, so earlier tonight I was checking my email on my laptop and everything was perfectly fine and normal. After a minute or so everything completely froze except for my mouse. It stayed like this for quite a while so I ended up turning it off and attempting to restart it.
When it came back on though, it was in safe mode and said "no bootable devices" and gave me some different options. I'm not super computer savy so I had to look a lot of this stuff up, but apparently it isnt detecting the hard drive anymore for some reason.
I managed to open the back up and I unpluged/plugged back in the hard drive to see if maybe it just lost connection, but sadly that didnt work. From what I understand is that im going to need a new hard drive since this one has most likely failed.
Unfortunately, I don't have a backup of it. There wasnt any crucial information on it though, just school assignments and pdf files that i can redownload so recovering the data isnt a big deal at all. That being said, will it be difficult to get my computer working again? I keep reading about formating the new drive and partitioning it and honestly im pretty overwhelmed with it all. Once I install a new hard drive will i be able boot my laptop back up and install my operating system?
