Please let me know if I have the wrong sub and i’ll remove -
I have a 1TB external drive that is no longer appearing on my mac. Before you ask I’ve tried all the simple things like changing ports, powering down etc. I thought it was a connection issue as the connecting SATA cable seemed a bit loose. Purchased a new one, removed the casing on the external drive and plugged in the new SATA, however this doesn’t seem to be the problem. There has been no physical “drops” to the drive, however I did accidentally disconnect it before ejecting it. Drive doesn’t show up in disk utility but was occasionally appearing in terminal under “diskutil list”. Now it’s not showing up at all and I have tried “diskutil list mount” and “diskutil list mountDisk“ to no avail. When it did show up I managed to get some info on it though. Have downloaded “TestDisk” and it shows up in the menu there. There is no audible clicking or buzzing from the drive, just its usual quiet humming.

Any advice on what is wrong with the drive? Is this something only a data recovery company can physically fix?
