Okay, I have a problem that has perplexed me for a week now so hoping I can find some help here. I have a TP-Link Archer C7v2 running the latest beta version of dd-wrt. I have a headless media server running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS hardwired directly to this router which stopped accessing the internet over a week ago. So to start troubleshooting my problem, I ran through steps that involved checking cables, ports, lights, etc. The same cable plugged into my laptop gives me an active internet connection. Okay, so maybe it's a faulty NIC so I ordered a replacement 1 port PCI ethernet network adaptor card and installed it. This new card was initially recognized by my router and was assigned a dynamic IP address. OK, great. Problem solved right? Well, I then wanted to assign a static IP address to this new card and upon reboot of my router the MAC address of this new card is nowhere to be seen. Plugging and unplugging the cable or using any other cable offers no solution. The router never sees this card, however the led lights on this new network card is green. Also, by the way, the old LAN port (which is directly on my motherboard) lights are all green too but it does not show up as an active client in my router either.
I'm lost for a solution. It isn't a bad cable or bad LAN port on my router as I can use my laptop to get an active internet connection using the same combination. I don't believe it is my network card as I've installed a brand new one and both it and the existing one have working green LED lights although neither one show up as an active client under my router management page. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
