So I notice my fan isn't working. So I take it into a repair shop to replace it with a new one. They should it would take a couple of hours since I paid rush fee. I call 1 hour before the close and they said they didn't fix it yet. I'm like, that's ok, do it tomorrow. Call again next day, they haven't fixed it. I'm getting irritated because I paid a rush fee and they originally quoted me 4-6 hours at most.
So on the third day, they tell me I might have problems with my graphics card, my motherboard and everything else. Everything on my computer was working fine when I had it except my fan quit. The code on my motherboard read A0, I looked it up and that meant my motherboard was ok when I had it. They literally tore up everything in my computer when it was ONLY meant to be a fan replacement. They keep the graphics card away in another room from my computer when I get to the shop, I feel like they are a chop shop and stealing my parts and replacing it on purpose with shitty parts. I'm also positive they broke my motherboard. They tell me my graphics card is ok. I have no idea why they tore it out at all since my graphics card was fine when I had it.
To replace a fan should have been at most 50-100 bucks. But now they are trying to upsell me on newer generation parts, because my motherboard isnt sold anymore and comptaible motherboards aren't either. If I get a newer motherboard I have to replace just about everything else.
When I ask questions, they give me a tone and act like I'm retarded for asking them anything. Are most shops like this? Should I just avoid repair shops? Do they steal parts and replace them with shitty ones?
I make my living off of the work I do on my computer, its about 2.5 years old and cost about $1300. I owe thousands in taxes that I'm paying this weekend. This is literally the worst time to have this happen.
What are my best options? Should I just buy a whole new computer?
