En esta entrada hablo de Bajo sospecha (Still of the Night, 1982), sin spoilers.


Meryl Streep comentó una vez que consideraba Bajo sospecha como su peor película. Creo que exageraba pues Bajo sospecha es el típico thriller donde debes descubrir quién es el asesino. No es de los mejores, pero tampoco lo calificaría de chapuza, lo que ocurre es que la actriz también estrenó en 1982 la aclamada La decisión de Sophie, con la que ganó su segundo Oscar. Comparando pierde, claro.


Robert Benton volvía a dirigir a Meryl Streep (tras Kramer contra Kramer, 1979, por la que ella ganó su primer Oscar) y a Roy Scheider (muy popular gracias al Tiburón de Spielberg) en este drama sobre un psiquiatra neoyorquino y el misterioso asesinato de uno de sus pacientes. Una de las principales sospechosas, obviamente, es el personaje de Meryl Streep.


Tal vez, la actriz reniegue de esta película porque protagoniza un par de secuencias de ésas que yo no sabía ni que existían. Siempre había pensado que Meryl Streep no se había desnudado, pero en Bajo sospecha hay un par de amagos. En una de las escenas, muy a lo La ventana indiscreta de Hitchcock, vemos a Meryl Streep (que va de rubia como las rubias de Hitchcock) en el piso de enfrente a través de una ventana. Desconocemos quién la acompaña, sólo que se quita un batín y se queda desnuda de espaldas (presuponemos que no es una doble de cuerpo aunque nunca se sabe).


Después, nos revelan que dicho individuo no es nadie misterioso si no su masajista y es entonces cuando se produce una escena realmente sexy en la que el tipo éste masajea la espalda de la actriz, mientras ella habla con un Roy Scheider cachondo perdido. Sólo por esta tensa escena merece la pena la película. Meryl Streep tenía por entonces 33 años. Por cierto, que la madre del psiquiatra es Jessica Tandy (Paseando a Miss Daisy), que salió en Los pájaros de Hitchcock.
