Hello,
I am going to be to editing a rack processing unit that controls all the A/V equipment for a large building. I have experience in editing audio networks and their DSP chains for other A/V systems, but all of them had USB ports to configure the software.
For the specific unit I need to work on, I can only use a Cat5e crossover cable to connect between a PC and the rack unit. The product manufactuer's website says I need to use:
a 10/100baseT network card(NIC)
My portable workstation has an RJ45 port directly on the motherboard that I could use to connect a Cat5e crossover cable ... but would I specifically need to use a network card like they suggest? If I do, what access or power do I gain from the network card compared to my RJ45 ethernet port on my motherboard?
Lastly, any tips on editing rack units from a PC using a crossover cat5e cable that I should know about?
