Description of problem
The trackpad occasionally just stops working - it doesn't track my fingers or recognize my gestures. It just stays put... as if there is no input. In less than 3 seconds, it starts working normally. The problem occurs seemingly randomly and doesn't go away by changing the sensitivity of the trackpad. It occurs about once in half an hour, but once it occurs, the subsequent "pauses" happen more frequently. The problem persists in Linux as well (Linux Mint 13), hence I think it's a hardware issue.Any suggestions? Do I need to clean the trackpad or is it starting to die on me :(

If I keep using the laptop for more than half an hour, it can happen (but someties doesn't and it works smoothly)
What I've tried so far to resolve the issue
I tried changing the trackpad sensitivity (low, med, high and most). Changing the options didn't reflect any significant changes.
