So basically, her entire computer got wrecked, and she tried to make a boot disk out of an external hard drive that she bought new and has used for a long time to store family pictures, etc. When she made the boot disk, she said the prompt had not told her that it would wipe her entire hard drive to make it. Well, since everything got wiped she said f**k it might aswell use it to try to recover some stuff now. So she downloaded puran file recovery to try to recover pictures on the external hard drive, and it said she had over 200,000 recovered files, which is way more than were originally on the hard drive. When we started scouring the photos...there are some pretty disturbing results. ALOT of porn, like so much porn. But also ALOT of pictures of bikes and atv's, like the ones youd see on buy/sell/trade websites or facebook, ALOT of pictures of family that we didn't know existed, that were not on the external hard drive earlier. It seems like their all just facebook pictures and porn, so my question is how in the hell did this software recover pictures to an external hard drive that were never downloaded on the computer, never on the external hard drive. (Disclaimer, this hard drive has not been plugged in for "as long as my mom can remember").
