I have an i5-2500k with a board and 4GB of RAM lying around in a box and want to use it for a small server. I also have a 3HDDs left (1tb, 1.5tb, 2tb). I got a case, an appropriate 80+ gold PSU, a SSD and some quiet Noctua fans for it, so basically I could start installing stuff now.
What I've come up with (googled during the last few hours) is:
- Ubuntu Server
- Samba for NAS use
- Kodi for media use (I want to hook it up directly to my AVR via the HDMI out of my mainboard)
- Nextcloud (or similar) for my own cloud
Do you feel like this is a good way to set this up? I have zero experience with this, but I can follow a tutorial pretty well.
Also if you know any good tutorials for the stuff mentioned above let me know. At the moment I'm following one from 2015.
