I’ve managed to kill two MicroSD cards by pulling the plug on Raspberry pi zeros without properly shutting down (I misunderstood the LED and thought they were already off). Right now neither card will let the pi boot.
In Windows 10 the cards show up as about 30mb in capacity. I’ve tried right-clicking and formatting (including restoring to device defaults) and they either throw up an error message or just format the 30mb partition.
I’ve tried the proper SD formatter tool and just get error messages.
I’ve tried using diskpart at the command line. The ‘clean’ command goes okay but the create partition thing just tells me something with the world ‘extent’ in the first sentence. Ugh.
I’ve also tried messing around with Disk Management in Windows but can’t format or anything besides assigning different drive letters, which doesn’t achieve anything.
Oh, I’ve also tried win32diskimager or whatever it’s called and that doesn’t work either.
Also tried just flashing a new image to the cards but it doesn’t work as the PC doesn’t see the full capacity.
So now I’m out of ideas. Maybe I should make a bootable Linux USB and do something with that?
