So for awhile now I've noticed a few issues with this harddrive. Certain programs(Such as Path of Building for Path of Exile, Simulationcraft for World of Warcraft, Mediamonkey) take forever (10-15min+) to startup, when they normally shouldn't. I've also had a few torrents report an I/O error (Cyclic Redundancy Check) when downloading to this drive. Googling the torrent issue (which is what prompted me to see what the problem might be), and pretty much everything points to a possible failing harddrive. In addition to all this, when navigating the drive sometimes it'll go into a sort of "not responding" state programs do sometimes.

Thankfully this isn't one of my SSDs, or my drive with all my music/pictures/videos. I've started backing up what I can, and a few items have given me a "Can't read from the source file or disk" that I had to skip over. It took me 4-5 hours just to get 12gb onto a usb, and so far another 2 or so just to get another 3gb or so off.

Needless to say, I'm almost 100% sure it's a failing drive. What prompted me to make this post though is after a 6 hour chkdsk it reported "Windows successfully scanned the drive. No errors were found." I decided to check the log, and it reported several "Read failure with status (numbers) at offset (numbers) for (numbers) bytes." https://pastebin.com/enXhhvtU is the log if anyone is curious.

So could chkdsk be wrong in that there are no errors in the drive, and it is indeed failing? Or is there perhaps something else I'm missing?
