Description of problem

A while ago I was getting error messages about my CPU overheating. I opened up the case to find a lot of dust in it, so I removed the dust from everything and reapplied the thermal paste on the CPU and reassembled the rig. During that process I also removed the SDD and HDD in order to dust those as well. Ever since then, the overheating issue seems to have gone away, but now the PC will only boot into BIOS and will not recognize both the SDD and the HDD, but it still notices that the DVD drive is present.

Cause/Steps to recreate the issue

I have tried shuffling the SATA cables around, attaching the cable from the DVD drive to the SDD and HDD in turn with the same issue. I bought a SATA to USB cable and connected the SDD to my laptop, where all of the files and data on the SDD seemed to be present and uncorrupted. Connecting the HDD to the laptop did not get any response, but the OS is on the SDD anyway. Today I received new SATA cables and attached them to the drives and tried again, but got the same issue. The DVD drive is recognized, but the BIOS/motherboard does not see that there is an SDD and HDD connected.

What I've tried so far to resolve the issue

I've done some googling and attempted to alter some BIOS settings to get it to recognize my drives, and even reset the BIOS to factory defaults, but none of that has fixed the issue. Are the drives corrupted somehow? Is the motherboard the issue? I'm a bit lost.
