Description of problem

I dropped the laptop and broke the screen. I replaced that to find out I had a hardware problem with the Radeon R7 M270 graphics. The laptop also has an Intel HD graphics 5500 chip which it defaults to during bootup and safe mode. On bootup I get a bluescreen with a graphics driver hardware error. Replacing the Radeon R7 M270 driver with the latest version or reverting to older version did not help. For the past 9 months I have disabled the hardware in Device Manager and used the Intel HD graphics 5500 only. The latest windows 10 update results in a bluescreen. I guess it is enabling the hardware as part of the update process. It seems I'm at an impasse where Windows repeatedly tries to install an update that fails and then reverts back to the previous state.

Cause/Steps to recreate the issue

The original cause was a drop that presumably resulted in a hardware error on the graphics chip. The error is evident when the Radeon R7 M270 graphics is enabled.

What I've tried so far to resolve the issue

I originally tried installing the latest driver and reverting to an older driver with no success, which has led me to the conclusion it is a hardware error. I currently have the Windows update hidden to stop the cycle of bluescreens, but that doesn't seem a permanent fix if future updates have the same effect. Other options I have thought of: 1) Attempting a "reflow" on the chip to see if this cures the problem. Sounds a bit dubious to me, so perhaps a last resort before junking it. 2) Replace the motherboard. I can only find these on ebay and I am bit wary of spending a chunk of money for secondhand hardware. Is there an option I'm missing? Is reflowing a sensible option? Any other advice?
