This is for a Toshiba Chromebook 2, (Toshiba CB35-B3340) thank you for all help in advance!
I noticed yesterday while I was washing dishes, that some excess water and drops (smallish-medium splashes) had gotten on my keyboard. Stupid of me, I know. I was certain the chromebook was far away enough on the counter. But I thought nothing of it, as this has happened before. I just wipe it up and go about my day. I usually use a fairly damp cloth to occasionally wipe down the keyboard in general, so I didn't think much of it.
But last night, I noticed that the "ASDF" keys where not working. Unresponsive. It was weird because, lets say at 10:00PM, everything was fine, but at 10:15PM, they suddenly went unresponsive.
So, I gathered that the issue must be linked to the water that had gotten on my keyboard a couple hours earlier. I kept the chromebook open in a tent shape and let it sit upside down next to a heater all night.
This morning, however, the problem has changed. Pretty much all of the keys work, except they are malfunctioning. For example, when I press A, "a1q" is typed. When I press S, "s2w" is typed. D is "d3e" etc., etc. For the backspace button, "\" comes up instead of deleting the character. Essentially, every time a key is pressed, the pressed character comes up, but with something extra-- particularly the character next to it or above it.
So guys, what do you think the problem is? Am I right? Is this due to getting some water spots on the keyboard while washing dishes? Could it be something sinister? I know malware and viruses are harder to come by as you can't download anything external to the chromebook, but still, I am worried.
I tried taking it apart and disconnecting/re-connecting the keyboard. That didn't really do anything. Other than this however, everything is fine. The screen works, applications come up, I can use it normally. It's just the bottom half of the chromebook that is giving me problems.
Sorry for the long post, I appreciate all help and anecdotes. I'm hoping someone can help me here.
Cheers!
