Maybe not the best place to post this but I don't know a better place so...
My poor grandad has a computer he uses to watch horse videos and go on FB with. He's gotten taken for over 700 by Indian tech support scammers but he still thinks they're legit and refuses to talk to anyone about it. Between this and losing his Sears pension he told my grandmother the other night that they couldn't afford to go out with her sister to supper. She went crying to my mom who called me.
I told her that other than deleting the software, calling the bank, changing passwords and not falling for it again there's not much to be done. Was I correct? Considering he won't do any of that because he thinks they're really Microsoft, I'm kind of at a loss.
Right now the game plan is to share articles about these scammers on FB in hopes he sees them and realizes they're a scam. Don't know what else we can do. Any tips are appreciated.
