The two magazines are covering national and international news separately, but Lawrence combines them into news reports of U.S. in World and 1948 [1] and Later sold the magazine to its employees. Historically, this magazine tends to be a bit more conservative than the two main competitors, Time and Newsweek, and focus more on the story of economic, health, and education. It's also distancing news, entertainment and sports celebrities. Hey guys, here is my build:
i7-8700k @ not OC'd
MSI Z370 Gaming Plus Mobo
16GB RAM not OC'd
GTX 1070 not OC'd
Windows 10 64-Bit
I'm currently using a new 3440x1440 monitor that I just bought and have three 1080p monitors connected (two of which are duplicated). I've been having this problem suddenly since I bought the new monitor (or at least that's when I noticed it). I've had trouble with the computer being very laggy with nothing open and have been trying to get to the bottom of it. When I would check Task Manager, everything would look normal so I was having trouble getting to root cause.
After looking through forums and threads, I saw that recently, some people have been having trouble with nVidia and AMD GPUs with multiple monitors with different resolutions and refresh rates connected. I enabled the IGD option in my BIOS and plugged my three 1080p monitors into my motherboard. After I did that, it stopped all of the very noticeable lag so I figured things were good.
That's when I believe I discovered the real problem. I usually keep Hardware Monitor open on a separate screen just to view temps while playing a game and so I was going through my different games in my library just to test how the GTX 1070 was handling 3440x1440. I noticed lower performance than I expected but chalked it up to the GPU not being powerful enough. So I closed the games and I was running and was getting ready for bed when I looked back at Hardware Monitor and noticed that my GPU was at 100% usage while just sitting at the desktop with nothing (but HWMonitor) open. I opened Task Manager to see if a game didn't close correctly but as soon as I opened Task Manager, the usage dropped to normal <5-10%.
I've been digging around for forums and threads about similar issues but haven't found anything aside from some people claiming trojans a few years ago. I typically don't run active antivirus software and just browse and download safely but just as a precaution, I downloaded the free versions of Avast. I tried to run Avast while in safe mode but it wouldn't start correctly so I ran it in normal mode. I think it detected one threat but it didn't seem very malicious (still let it quarantine). I then downloaded the free version of Malwarebytes and let that do a deep scan of all of my drives and it caught three more threats. Again, nothing that seemed serious but I let it quarantine anyway.
I restarted my computer, opened Hardware Monitor and I'm still having the problem. The GPU usage would be constantly pegged at 100% until I open Task Manager. I will try to run Malwarebytes in safe mode when I get home today (currently remote'd into my computer from work) but I wanted to know if anyone has had a similar problem in the past. I'd rather not nuke the OS but I can if it's absolutely necessary.
Edit: I just noticed that without Task Manager open, my CPU usage also drastically raises by about 30-40% on all cores.
