I am using a Samsung Galaxy S6, on AT&T. I do not know the version or build (But it is up to date I am fairly sure)
Tonight I decided to use my gear VR for the first time in awhile, and when I did, it gave the notification to let my phone cool 3 or 4 times. This is normal for me while using the VR. But then when I decided I was done and unplugged my phone from the headset, it was on a black screen and will not turn on. I believe that overheating may be the cause of what went wrong.
Things to note: 1. My phone was charged and I know that it is capable of charging at the moment. It has been above 80% since it crashed

I have tried to perform a soft reset by using the volume down and power button, and although it goes through the restart process, after the AT&T logo loads up, it brings me right back to the black screen. I have tried this about 8 times and have had no success on any of them. It brings me through the Samsung galaxy loading screen, the samsung loading screen, then the AT&T loading scree, then goes black.

The touchscreen buttons to either side of the home button still light up when touched. The LED at the top, vibrations from notifications, and the vibration when plugged into a charger all work as well. Also, when it is on the black screen and I hold the screenshot buttons, I feel the vibration that is typical of taking a screenshot. This to me indicates that my phone is still on but for whatever reason cannot display anything. (Update I have had more success with it being on (see #7))

At one point while I was attempting to restart it using the power and volume down buttons, the camera screen appeared and quickly went away, and was displaying what was infront of the camera. This seems like a good sign to me.

I have read that if you hold the power button, home button, and volume up button, it will boot in recovery mode, and that I should feel a vibration at some point. When I attempt this, I feel no vibration and the screen does not do anything different.

I do not want my files and data lost and will sooner take apart my phone, remove the sim card, and buy a new phone, than to lose all my shit.

The only time when I can get the screen to display itself, is during phone calls, and when the camera is on. Both of these seem to work fine, but anything else is completely out of the question.
If my phone is screwed for good, is there any way to save my files and transfer them to a new phone? Either digitally or physically?
