I'm setting up a test build for a blind user so we can convert her computer to Windows 10 so she can test accessibility of websites and software. She's currently using our standard Win7 image with JAWS screen reader version 16 with no issues but when we attempted to repeat the setup for her after imaging with Win10 we started running into tons of issues and reverted her back.
The test machine currently has Win10 1709, joined to AD domain, and the user is just a standard user. I have tested JAWS v 16 and the latest from them v 18 but it seems like it doesn't fix it's focus on the desktop and when you try to use Cortana or even the Start Menu it seems to focus on odd things requiring you to tab quit a bit to get the what would be a logical starting point for a seeing user. Additionally v 16 of JAWS doesn't seem to work well with the Edge browser and v 18 (which I'm demoing due to licensing) does work better but not perfect (still seems to focus on the wrong items first). I have also tried the built in Narrator and while that does work much better in with Edge, it's still hit and miss elsewhere in Windows and doesn't seem to work at all with the login screen.
Does anyone else have experience in supporting users who are blind or have limited vision with Windows 10 and if so would mind sharing your setup processes and what software you use with me?
