Right now, my disk usage is constantly fluctuating between 90-100%, and has been all day. I'm running updates and downloading packages in WSL, but right now all it's doing is unpacking what's already downloaded. Not sure why the usage measurement is so low for dpkg, it should be the most active right now.
Why is my system using upwards of 100% disk when doing basic things?
I don't know exactly what HDD is in this laptop, it wasn't listed on Amazon when I bought it and I never bothered to check. I also don't know how to check disk speed through software. The laptop I have is the lowest cost model of the Inspiron 7559.
The only think I can think of is updating drivers, could that be it?
Here is the official drivers page from Dell.
The two I think I might need are Seagate ST500LM000/ST1000LM014 Firmware Update (If that's the drive I have, IDK), and Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver and Management Console. Any possible correlation?
The usage of each individual process doesn't come close to adding up to what the column header total is telling me. What could it be? I also do most certainly notice lag spikes when starting anything.
I'm running Windows 10 Home Insiders Preview Build 17115.
If anyone has any idea what drivers I should install, only what's required, for my system (I wasn't quite sure so I installed all of the "urgent" and some of the "recommended" drivers that seemed minimally invasive), I would also appreciate letting me know.
