Okay, so i have some logitech speakers that connect to my pc via an aux cable that i plug into the front of my pc. I slightly nudged my pc while sitting down and my pc froze, after a reboot the aux ports no longer work, the one located on the motherboard doesnt work and the one located on the front of my case no longer works either.
My speakers are not being recognized as disabled devices and they are not being seen as devices that just aren't in use, they are simply not detected. I tested with speakers and headphones on both Aux ports.
My motherboard is a b150m mortar. Under sound devices in Device manager the only thing that shows up is "AMD High Definition Audio Device". After some research this is simply for HDMI based audio, which does work on my monitor but its quality is bad so I choose to use aftermarket speakers.
I have tried:
-installing Realtek audio drives -Changing the AMD high definition audio device driver to a "High Definition Audio Device" -Turned off HD audio assistance in BIOS -Reformatted (factory restored) PC
None of these have worked.
Heres a crazy workaround that i have found but the sound quality is garbage. My monitor which i normally use a DVI cable for can be hooked up using HDMI to play audio, it has an AUX port on it and i can plug in my speakers to that port and they work when the monitor is in HDMI but its incredibly janky and bad.
So, the hardware im using is fine but it seems it may be a problem with the hardware in my pc or motherboard, ive had this issue before but was able to fix it with a few reboots but now that seems to not be the case. I opened my pc and made sure every cable and connection was secured to make sure no cables had simply gone loose.
Please Help.
EDIT: can now confirm HDMI and DVI ports that are on the motherboard do not put out video, i have an rx480 that i use exclusively for video so I'm not sure if this is a sign of a broken board or that graphics are just dedicated to the GPU.
