PC specs: i7-8700k, gtx760, 8gb ram, Windows 10 on ssd
So this started a couple of days ago but a quick restart and all was good. Today however after multiple restarts, full shutdowns I couldn't get past logging in. It was so slow in fact that even the one time I managed to open task manager that promptly froze as well. My first idea was that my startup programs were causing an issue, so I started in safe mode (which works fine) and disabled them. This helped a bit, I managed to open task manager and saw that my pc was running 3% cpu and I couldn't close the chrome tab I started by accident. (Which as I type this has now crashed (ON 0% CPU - 20% ram))
I still can't do anything on my pc at this point.
Edit - I feel this is quite important, disk usage seemed very high at startup, I think this is normal though. Something called "Servive Host: Superfetch".
The mouse moves fine, but everything else, taskbar (which sometimes doesn't even load), even hovering over desktop icons does nothing.
Edit 1 - It appears even safe mode isn't safe, though as it doesn't show disk usage I can't say much else. I'm getting a very strong feeling this is a disk thing.
Edit 2 - I managed to get to the disk tab in task manager and my c drive is at 100% flat. Dear lord.... All processes are <1 Mbps. ???????????????? Anyone got any ideas?
Edit 3- current plan: install Windows onto a different drive and hope I don't lose all my stuff
