Sorry; I'm new here. I bought a new laptop about week ago, Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series (7559), and every time I try to play a game I get white lines, sometimes small white specs, and sometimes white boxes that flash on/across my screen. So far I've only been testing it on Star Trek Online and that is by no means bleeding edge.

Specs: 6th gen Intel Core t7-6700HQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.5 GHz), 16 GB Dual Channel DDR3L 1600MHz RAM (8GB x2), NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4GB GDDR5

In addition to games I've tried running Heaven Benchmark 4.0, FurMark 1.2, GpuTest Windows x64 0.7.0, UserBenchMark, Dell Support Assist Video Stress Test and nVidia CUDA Tests (both under Dell Support Assist) and some other ones that I can't recall. Might have been built in Windows tests or something.

If I disable NVIDIA or force my computer to run on the integrated Intel HD Graphics 530 I no longer get those lines and artifacts.

I've tried updating drivers, they were all up to date. I tried manually uninstalling the NVIDIA driver with Guru3D Display Driver Uninstaller, and reinstalling other versions of the driver. 385.69; 388.00; 390.77 (I believe the 390.77 is the most up to date) all have the same issues both while playing and while testing.

I tried Dell Support, but they were unable to help despite an hour and 10 minute phone call. They only ran a basic test on my system and "updated" some drivers, which actually added more problems too. I am unable to boot into alternate modes like safe mode via Settings>Update & Security>Recovery>Advanced startup [restart now]>Troubleshoot>Advanced options>Startup Settings>[restart]. Which now also tries to update my computer and then says it was unable to do so and undoes the update. It will not try to do an update upon normal restart (this happened after the GoToAssist with the Dell Support where they take control of your system).

There is also this unending BitDefender Threat Scanner error that keeps popping up and never going away. This might have installed itself when I installed avast free. This appears when I try to do the alternate restart but after the screen change and before the alternate restart mode.

I really need a fix. Dell is screwing me over on this one, as they said there was nothing wrong with my hardware and it was my "settings" for my games which are causing this. I can't return it and I'd be down an easy thousand dollars. They never explained why the stress tests also caused the same issues so maybe those have "settings" that are "causing all of" my "issues". They won't take it back since their tests came up good and it'd cost me about 50 bucks to send back and I doubt they'd find anything wrong with it since they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it now. They'd probably charge me another 50 just to send if I did send it to them.
