So reddit I just had this problem and can't seem to troubleshoot it.

My PC froze and reset for no apparent reason, and when it rebooted I didn't had audio.

Realtek did still showed up in the device manager (after enabling “show hidden devices”) but now after another reboot its not listed at all.

I already checked the BIOS to make sure its enabled and reinstalled the drivers, and im currently downloading windows to try a clean install. Since I still have some time until the windows install is ready I thought I ask here.

I’ve had no hardware changes, nor driver changes lately. I had 2 crashes prior to this (in the past 2 days) but I didn’t pay that much attention to them.

My specs are:

Windows 8.1 64bits

8700K at stock speeds MSI Z370 SLI PLUS 32Gb of 3000Mhz ram Cooler Master GX 750W (I know, still on my to change list) 2 SSD and 2 HDD drives.

EDIT: My PC just froze up again and rebooted again and now realtek seems to work properly. I know that the issue seems to have fixed itself but I kinda want some input on what the hell it might be.
