Hi everyone, I've got a quick question. I have a Windows-based RAID 0 ("Storage Spaces") array. I turned off my computer and unplugged both of the 1TB drives, because I needed the slots temporarily for another purpose. I completed that, shut down the computer, and re-connected the drives. However, now, Windows doesn't recognize a drive, and disk management says they're missing/failed. It's INCREDIBLY unlikely that it failed, as it would have been far too much of a convenient time, and they're both drives around a year old. I know the dangers of RAID 0, this was just a RAID drive for Steam games, so nothing is truly lost if they're gone, but it would be nice not to spend a couple days re-downloading a couple TB. Regardless. I try to use "reactivate volume" in Disk Management, and nothing happens. They show up fine in BIOS, which only adds to the evidence that both drives work fine and Windows is just confused. Anyone that can help?
Windows 10
i7 4790K
GTX 1080
16GB 2133MHz RAM
Samsung 850 Evo SSD Boot Drive
EDIT: Hmm, looking at it in DiskPart shows something strange https://i.imgur.com/cZNfFOK.png
The two drives labeled "foreign" are my RAID drives. It looks like they're also the ones labeled as "Missing", considering I only have a total of 5.
EDIT 2: So I think I've made progress. Maybe. Not sure. I used a tool I found called PTEDIT32. I changed some values in there, and after restarting a couple times, both drives show up as working, just unallocated. So both hard drives work, Windows just doesn't recognize them as the ones that should have been in the RAID array, which is what it seemed like at first. https://i.imgur.com/eMLvJQJ.png
EDIT 3: Fixed it! I set the values back to default in PTEDIT32, and went to Disk Management, right clicked on the "Foreign Disks", selected "Import Foreign Disks", and clicked okay. It brought them back online and everything works great.
