My PC was just off one morning and there was no response at all when pressing the power switch. I figured it was the power supply, so I went and bought a new one. I brought it home and installed it, but when I pressed the power switch on my PC nothing turned on. The only thing that happened was a faint, metallic "plink" sound.
At this point I thought maybe when the old PSU died it took the motherboard with it. I bought a new motherboard and processor and new memory. Put it all together and...nothing. Just the same metallic ping noise when trying to turn it on.
I took the power supply out and tested it with a paper clip and it seemed to work fine. But if it's installed in the PC nothing turns on and no fans spin, though the motherboard does have LED lighting.
I'm kind frustrated and of out of ideas here. Hoping there's something obvious I've missed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
