Hello tech-support subreddit. I don't use Reddit that often, so I apologize for things missing or being otherwise wrong with my post.

For at least several months now I have severe issues with the Windows Explorer. The issues:

1) Sometimes, but not always, opening two new windows instead of opening in the same window when opening a folder

2) Explorer.exe not always, but often crashing and immediately restarting when: 2a) Opening a folder 2b) Creating a new file 2c) Renaming a file

3) There seems also to be something wrong with creating shortcuts. Shortcuts appear as "unnamed" file with no data (0 kb), or do not appear at all. Sometimes closing and opening the folder makes the functional shortcut appear after all. Not sure if related.

According to the event viewer, the crashes are caused by ntdll.dll, and sometimes also by windows.storage.dll.

I have tried all kinds of things otherwise, from deleting the navpane-key in the registry to changing up several options in the explorer options, nothing worked. A sfc scan produces no results. Windows 10 is up to date. I created a .dmp file of the crashes of explorer.exe, sitting in the CrashDump folder, but I don't know what to do with it/how to extract the information in it. Clicking on on it opens a command window with some stuff in it, that closes after a few seconds on its own again.

My system:

Windows 10 Professional (x64) Version 1709 (build 16299.248) Board: ASRock B85 Pro4 Bus Clock: 100 megahertz UEFI: American Megatrends Inc. P2.40 12/21/2015

AMD Radeon 270X, newest driver version installed

Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120GB [Hard drive] (120,03 GB) ST1000DM003-1CH162 [Hard drive] (1000,20 GB)

8 GB DDR3 Ram installed

Windows and a bunch of programs/tools are installed on the SSD, several games on the HDD. I only use Windows Defender. Malwarebytes shows no results.
