On Saturday’s episode of CNN’s The Axe Files, comedian Whoopi Goldberg explained why she refuses to say Donald Trump’s name, telling host David Axelrod she “can’t wrap [her] head around” why people “felt the need to put this in.”
Goldberg was discussing the multiple allegations of sexual harassment and assault against Trump when she described him as “the man in charge.”
“You’re talking about the president?” Axelrod asked.
“I am,” Goldberg replied, explaining she “can’t” call him by his title or say his name.
“Do you think that it somehow honors him?” Axle rod asked.
“In conjunction with that word, yeah,” she said. “…This is the first time where I can’t wrap my mind around this. And that people felt the need to put this in.”
Goldberg acknowledged people don’t always appreciate the way she refers to the president. “There’s lots of stuff I do that people don’t like, you know, I can live with that,” she said.
