Disclaimer: I have no hardware repair experience. These are probably very easy questions.
For quite awhile, my laptop has had problems with the charger cords getting loose and needing to be held at specific angles or have pressure on them to charge my laptop (this seems to be a pretty common problem with Lenovo laptops). Ordering a new cord will help for awhile, but it's still not perfect, and will degrade fast enough that I think the charger port on my laptop is worn down and not holding them securely (if you think the culprit may just be cheap chargers or something else, let me know). I found a replacement here. It looks like all I'd have to do once I have the laptop open is pop the old one out and the new one in. However, I've also found ones like this, which confuses me. Why is it sold with the wire harness instead of the little prongs? Is this for if you wanted to put the charger port somewhere else? Or, is it common to need to replace the wires leading from the charger port? If so, is that possibly my problem instead of wear on the plastic power jack?
Along with my questions, any general advice on replacing the charger port?
