Tale intervento militare viene spesso attribuito da una parte considerevole del centrosinistra e della
sinistra al
governo Berlusconi, ma a quanto pare lo stesso
ex presidente del Consiglio ne era un deciso oppositore(2).
Stando a quanto riportato da un articolo pubblicato sul 'Il Giornale'(3), lo stesso ex sottosegretario alla Difesa e politico di 'Fratelli D'Italia' ha affermato di essere stato, sempre insieme a Berlusconi, uno dei pochissimi oppositori della stessa guerra in Libia e ha sostenuto che durante la riunione d'emergenza convocata al teatro dell'Opera di Roma l'allora presidente della Repubblica Giorgio Napolitano l'ha praticamente 'cacciato' dalla stanza della stessa riunione.
