This problem happened regularly to me a few weeks back, fiddling with things (turning power saver mode on in my radeon settings, manually setting fans to a moderate speed, changing monitors/cables/ports) got it to stop happening at all for weeks. Tonight it came back out of nowhere, having changed no hardware or settings during that time.
It has done this in game, just web browsing, after five minutes, after half an hour, it's totally random. Happened half a dozen times tonight while I've been fiddling with things and testing usage. Happened during a game, again on a map load, again while web browsing, again 5 minutes into a different game. I've updated drivers, did a malwarebytes scan, cranked my GPU fan speed, changed monitors cables and ports...
Weirdest thing to me is that all my inputs stop, if my GPU was just not outputting surely I could still talk to people and my keys would input?
I'm about ready to tear my hair out. Card is an MSI r9 390 8gb only 2 years old, the rest of the rig is the same age, and it was a kit build so everything should play nice together and has had no problems at all for about two years. Problem started happening, "solved" it, started happening again weeks later.
