Oggi 10 febbraio ricorre l'anniversario dei massacri delle foibe, avvenuti tra il 1943 e il 1945 tra la Venezia Giulia e la Dalmazia(1).
I massacri delle foibe portarono alla morte e all'esodo di migliaia di cittadini italiani e sono stati per lungo tempo dimenticati.
Inoltre, spesso e volentieri tale 'dimenticanza' e la minimizzazione di esse è stata fatta nel nome di un certo antifascismo ideologico e, d'altronde, bisogna anche dire che capita che la questione venga strumentalizzata in chiave meramente anticomunista e senza tenere conto del contesto.
Sul contesto, c'è da dire che le foibe nacquero dopo anni di ostilità e odio trasversale tra alcuni settori delle minoranze italiane e degli slavi residenti nell'Istria e nella Dalmazia, odii che portarono a reciproche violenze, alla brutale occupazione nazifascista della Jugoslavia e alle orrende violenze delle foibe.
Al di là delle diatribe politiche, è indubbiamente giusto rendere omaggio alle vittime delle stesse foibe.
