Hi r/techsupport

I few days ago I found that my PC won't boot. Pressing the power button doesn't cause anything in the tower to show any signs of power. I'm trying to diagnose the problem and feel like I've exhausted most of my options, and would appreciate any input. I'll highlight what I've done so far and leave my specs at the bottom.

I followed this list of potential problems from Lifewire and have so far found that:

1) It is most likely not a CMOS battery issue. I have tried a few replacement batteries and none of these had made a difference.

2) The power supply passes the "paper clip test" and manages to turn on by itself.

3) It doesn't appear as though the power switch on the motherboard works.

With these results in mind, does this suggest a motherboard problem? And if so, would replacing the motherboard be the correct course of action?

More context on this computer. I built my first PC in the summer of 2016, it's had its share of issues since the start. 3 screws were missing in the outer region of the motherboard and I wasn't able to safely remove the motherboard to put them back in, this seemed to cause it to have a bit of "bend" when trying to insert new parts. My graphics card was another area where my tower had problems, causing a large majority of the crashes. I have since removed it from the PC and haven't used it for about ~3-5 months.

Specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170M-D3H motherboard

Processor: An i5 processor, most likely 6th gen. I think it's a 6600. Box misplaced at the moment so I'm unsure.

Graphics: MSI r9 390 8G

RAM: x4 4GB DDR4 2133Mhz

Power Supply: Corsair CX600
