My system is a windows 10 computer with a gtx960.
A few days ago I bought a second monitor: a Dell U2311H
I must have spent like 5 hours y computer just won't detect the thing. It is not visible in the monitor settings thingy nor in the device manager. The monitor itself always just always enters power saving mode because "it can't detect a signal from the computer." I have tried DVI, VGA and the DP cables (and adjusted the monitor input ofcourse) which I know are working because when plugged into my beamer I instantly see a second monitor in the monitorsettings.
The monitor itself is not broken because it does work on my friends shitty laptop but only via VGA.
I have tried all the steps in the first 10+ links in a google search from this problem. To summarize some of them:
- make sure cables are functional and use correct input source (yes because the cables work on other devices)
- make sure monitor is not broken (yes because the monitor works on a shitty laptop)
- turn the PC off, remove the power cable and hold the on/off button for 1min (did this like 5 times but no effect)
- Tried all the ports on my graphics card (these ports all work with other devices like my beamer)
- Tried all the ports available on the I/O panel
- Deleted and reinstalled drivers for my GTX960 like 3 times
- Also downloaded the specific drivers for this monitor from the dell website
- Turn the PC off and reseat all the main components
Maybe somebody can help? I'm becoming dispirited
