Built a new rig a couple of weeks ago, every time the nvida drivers are installed it will reach " installing graphics driver" and the pc will freeze just as the screen flickers as the gpu is detected.(sometimes on a black screen) I have tried installing manually (390.77, 390.65, 388.71, 385.41, 340.52) and through GeForce Experience. Occasionally the installation is completed and I am told to restart the pc for changes to take effect. On restart the pc freezes on the spinning dots on boot. Installing drivers through device manager has the same effect. I initially thought that it was a gpu error so I bought a completely different one but to no solution. Motherboard was also changed. Gpu and storage was tested on a friends pc with no problems. All mobo drivers and Intel Hd Graphics 630 are installed on the pc fine (Intel HD graphics does not show in dev manager when the gpu is installed but shows when GPU is uninstalled. "Basic Microsoft display adapter is shown when the gpu is installed.)
Ive tried all the DDu magic with no solution. I have also tried multiple OS (win 7, 8.1 and 10)
Nvidia support have been looking into the issue for close to 2 weeks and I'm aching for a solution.
