I have a (very likely) dying 5 year old Seagate 4tb external, CrystalDiskInfo has my pending and uncorrectable error counts at 1040. They were 80 yesterday. I've gotten everything important off of it already, but there's a lot of extra media I'd like to recover if possible.

The issue is, or was, that the HDD usage would jump up to 100 for a few minutes and then all my USB connections would temporarily disconnect before coming back but without the HDD. I guessed this was a power issue, so I took the drive out of the enclosure and hooked it up internally.

Now I have a new issue. The HDD is detected in device manager, and by programs like CrystalDiskInfo, but explorer can't see it. Here's my disk management page, it seems to think the drive is now unformatted and I have no way to assign a drive letter without reformatting - obviously less than ideal if trying to recover the data.

I double checked it wasn't completely dead by taking it back out and reusing the enclosure's sata to USB, and it shows up like normal with all data intact, but still can't use this to backup everything due to the usb power issue. So what can I do to get the drive readable over sata alone?
