Alrighty then, I have an HP Pavilion 500-539, a desktop, that was purchased in late December 2014. Originally a Windows 8, I've run it on Windows 10 with ease for the past two years without a problem (except for one written at the end of this text).
Yesterday, I opened my computer and surfed the Internet for about five minutes before I went to my room for another five. When I came back, my computer had a blue screen telling me Automatic Repair failed its job. And it has kept failing its job, always landing on that very same blue screen with the possibility of choosing Advanced Options.
So, I did my research and tried different things suggested to other people who experienced something identical or similar, but to no avail: * Opened Command and did bootrec. rebuildbcd and fixmbr were successful, but fixboot's "access was denied." * Did chkdsk, which completed but obviously didn't amount to anything. * Tried resetting my computer (the version where I keep my files). It told me I had to make additional space. * But I can't even access my files because the computer won't boot into Safe Mode either. * I can't restore it to a previous point because it slipped my mind.
I'm out of ideas, though I've downloaded the Windows 10 Installation Media on my laptop today to put it on my USB, but I haven't used it on my desktop. I've read if I use it to install, I'll lose everything. Evidently, I'd much rather not lose my documents and projects.
If you've been through this familiar experience of all the bullet points above failing... what more can be done??

Prior problems: In late October, my computer would freeze when I would open Chrome. Then, it got worse as it would freeze upon simply logging into my Windows session. So, I did a reset and kept all my files. I had no further problem. On Thursday, McAfee wouldn't scan individual files anymore, but Windows Live Defender would do it. I'm not sure of its importance in this, though, as they lived in harmony for three years and the computer never once suffered.
