I have an hp model 15- an050nr star wars special edition laptop. The hard drive got hit and brought up an error saying I needed to install an OS on the hard drive and started clicking loudly so I assumed it dead. I got a replacement drive and it passes the BIOS test. I ordered a windows 10 flash drive to try to reinstall the OS since I didn't have any form of backup. I got it to recognize it as a boot source, but it will not boot. It will say checking media, and after awhile it just pop up a blue box that says "The selected boot device failed". I don't believe anything else was damaged when the hard drive failed, and I replaced the new one and the BIOS doesn't fail it when I scan it so I believe it was installed properly. The only thing I was able to find on the HP website was that perhaps it was a device that updated to windows 10, in which case it would have to boot from windows 8 or 7. But I believe it came with windows 10 already, so I'm needing suggestions on what else to try to see if I can get it to work, or try to get my money back if I got ripped off. Thanks in advance.
