Shortly before 8am at Marshall County High School in Benton, Kentucky, a 16-year-old boy entered the school and opened fire, killing two students and injuring 17 others.
The teenage suspect was apprehended by police and led away in handcuffs. The incident marks the first fatal shooting of 2018.
By Tuesday evening, President Donald Trump was still nowhere to be found. Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters at a regular press briefing that the president had been briefed and offered condolences on behalf of the White House.
