The Oscar-winner was in peak form during the National Board of Review gala Tuesday.

In a speech at the National Board of Review gala on Tuesday, actor Robert De Niro ripped “Jerkoff-in-chief” Donald Trump, whom he described as a “f**king idiot” and “f**king fool.”

De Niro was introducing Meryl Streep, who plays alongside actor Tom Hanks in Steven Spielberg’s “The Post.” In his speech, De Niro noted Hanks’ illustrious acting career, including his role in Castaway, “opposite a volleyball named Wilson.”

“Meryl [Streep] is the most generous and giving actor,” De Niro said. “She not only inhabits her own character, she helps bring out the character of everyone else on the screen. Can a volleyball do that?”

“Not even if the volleyball was a stable genius,” De Niro quipped, referencing Trump’s tweet last weekend declaring himself “like, really smart.”

“At the time of [‘The Post’], Donald Trump was suffering from ‘bone spurs,’” De Niro said. “Today, the world is suffering from the real Donald Trump. Come on. You know? What are we talking about? This f**king idiot is the president. It’s the emperor’s new clothes—the guy is a f**king fool.”

“The movie gave us glimpses of President Nixon as delusional, petty, vindictive, nasty and batsh*t f**king crazy,” he added. “Ah, the good old days.”
