I have a WD My Passport Ultra that I suddenly have not been able to access after three years of use with no issues. Usually when I plug it into my laptop I have to use the "WD drive unlocker," enter a password, and then a "new drive" appears which I can open and then start using my drive. About a week ago when I put in my password, the new drive appeared on my screen, but when I tried to open it the drive wouldn't actually open - it would just cause my windows explorer to freeze. Also, some repeated clicking sounds come from the external hard drive itself which make me pretty nervous.
I bought a new USB 3.0 cable and have tried the external drive on multiple computers, and neither of those fixed the problem, so I know the issue isn't the cable or my computer.
Any advice would be appreciated.
