My computer is divied in two drives : My C: (a SSD) where my OS, desktop, documents, etc. all are, and my F: where I keep everything else.

For easily over a year, I've periodically noticed the free space on my C: lowering anywhere between ~7 free Go and a few Mos, depending on how often and efficiently I manage to clear up space. So far I'd always figured that windows updates and the like would be the cause of the bigger and bigger amount of space taken.

Except... yesterday Win10 finally spoke up and suggested I deleted my "old" version of windows (aka win7) to save space, so I did and went from ~1 Go free space to ~12Go. Great! I eventually shut down my computer, and today I boot it up, an update installs for less than a minute and now I'm back down to 1.10 Go free, with no old windows version to delete.

When I go in my storage settings, out of 74Go there are allegedly 28.7 Go of them taken by "System & reserved space", and 33.3 Go taken by "Application and Games". The next biggest space-taker is a little shy of 5 Go.

The heaviest thing I have on C: is an old Adobe Illustrator 2014 setup at a whopping 1.10 Go. The next biggest thing is Avast at 0.99, and then the files are so small they're counted in Mos. I'm also having a hard time believing that the relatively few amount of things on there are enough to add up to 33 Go, but that's beside the point.

On the other hand, in "System & reserved space", I notice that I have a hibernation file of 11.9 Go, which would explain why I lost so much space overnight... except I've already long turned off the Hibernation feature to avoid just this problem.

So I can delete that file again, but as I understand it that's not going to be enough to resolve this problem once and for all. I've also run defrag a few times (it always came up clean after the first) and manually cleaned up whatever seemed like it remotely had a tangible impact on free space long ago. Are there any other options I'm not aware of?
