I'm pretty sure this is happening because I had the "killswitch" enabled in IPVanish (VPN software). The killswitch just cuts off the connection when it's disconnected from a VPN server.
It started happening after I logged out of my IPVanish account to double check my IPVanish login, but then couldn't log back in because I was now disconnected from the internet.
Here's some more details:
- macOS High Sierra (10.13.2)
- MacBook Pro 15-inch, 2017
- WiFi works on all other devices. It's not the router.
- It DOES connect to the WiFi properly with the same password when I put it in Safe Mode and select the "Online support" option.
- I don't have a USB-C to ethernet adapter on me, but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't help.
- The password is definitely correct. It works on all my other devices and I've triple checked it.
- I've rebooted the computer.
- I've rebooted the router.
- I've contacted Apple Support and went through various "resets" and things but they seemed to have no idea how to help. I got pushed up to a "Senior Advisor" and I still couldn't resolve it.
- I tried uninstalling (by removing it from the Applications folder) IPVanish but I'm still getting "Invalid password."
Any help would be appreciated, and if you could upvote for visibility I'd appreciate it a lot. I have school tomorrow and it's an important day so I'm going to need my laptop working. Starting to feel really desperate.
