So my Lenovo y510P stopped functioning properly on me awhile back. I don't remember the exact specs, but I think it had the GeForce 750M SLi. I booted it up one day and it just refused to start any games or playback any video. I could surf the web fine, open file explorer, etc, but I could not open images or view any videos (browser or saved file). The only other issue I noticed was the disappearance of some of the icons at the bottom right of the taskbar. I tried restarting, then I tried disabling SLi and messing around with the settings, but to no avail. The computer is already a few years old so I purchased a new one, but I wanted to wipe the Lenovo and either donate it or recycle it. I have tried to restore to factory settings and erase all data, but after starting the process it got stuck on 100% for two days. I finally turned it off the hard way and tried booting again, but now it won't boot at all and will just give me the loading sign.

I was able to save all my data by transferring it to a external HD, but at this point I just want to be able to get rid of computer without having to worry about my personal data being on there.

Here's the list of specs that I can remember:

  • OS: Windows 8 originally, later upgraded to Windows 10 for free when it was rolled out
  • Model: Lenovo Y510P
  • GPU: GeForce 750m SLi (1 included and 1 in the universal bay)

edit

I assumed it was an issue with the GPU but I'm not sure.
