So last night, my computer just freezes out of the blue.
Whenever I try to power it up. It will load for a little bit. A few seconds later, I will get a blue screen that briefly flashes saying "UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME" and then it goes to "Preparing Automatic Repair" before going to a black screen...
I was using Windows 8.1. I tried to start the computer by going into Safe Mode. I've tried to start it by doing F8, and even went so far to try F11. None of these commands work. The only thing that's available to me are the BIOS.

The problem is that there are not that many options available for me to properly troubleshoot. I decided to try and re-install Windows from a USB drive. I have even tried to use Rufus. It's able to detect my flash drive, and boots. However, the only success that I got with this method is that I got a flashing underscore...that doesn't go away....
It's a very old computer, but it's been running fine for years. I am completely stumped. I've searched around so many other forums, and nothing. Some people claiming that they've solved this problems, and they don't offer any solutions.
