I have a Linux desktop but for school I need to have Windows. I got a 120gb SSD to put Windows 10 on which should be more than enough for my school work. When I go to install Windows from a USB I can't get past the screen where I choose the drive I want to install Windows on. It says "We can't partition this drive or locate an existing partition."
This is not a UEFI motherboard. I tried formatting the drive from Linux with an msdos partition table and NTFS file format. Windows said it wouldn't work because it wasn't GPT so I tried it as GPT with the NTFS file system. Then I tried both partition tables without formatting the drive. Also asking Windows to format the drive for me doesn't work.
It will let me install Windows over my Linux install which I obviously don't want to do. (and is hilarious in kind of a cruel way)
I'm sure I'm missing something obvious. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
