Hello, thanks for any info. I currently have WOW internet and for what I'm paying, it's too much for too little, so I contacted Spectrum to get 100mbps for $45. I opted to use my own modem and router. I'm using an ASUS CM-16 modem and a google wifi router. The modem is on their approved modem list.
When I called to give them my mac address and start service, they informed me that someone else has service at my house, so they cannot start service for me until that is taken care of. I've owned my house for 3 years, so something is wrong on their end. I contacted their twitter last week and a guy called me back tonight saying it's straightened out, and told me to call him back but left an extension with no number. It still doesn't work.
All the lights are on on the front of the modem, and they have always been on, even when they told me I can't have service yet. Nothing has changed with the lights. My router cant connect to the internet through the modem, and never has. I don't have an Ethernet port on my laptop, but I connected the modem directly to my XBox One and it says "DNS isn't resolving Xbox Server names" and does not work either.
Is there something I should try doing? I've unplugged and reset a 100 different times, and they want to send a tech out to check it out. If it is something wrong on my end though, they will charge me. The customer service has been awful, and I don't want to get stuck with them and owe like $200 more for a stupid service call. I think it still has something to do with the address issue and setting my modem up. Should I have them come look at it? I also still have the WOW router and when I connect that back up I still have service there, which is what I'm using now. Thank you.
